Engineer (Intern)
--In Person--
Do you have what it takes to work at one of the coolest places in the world?!
Here are SQ4D, we are pushing the boundaries between technology and construction. Meet the team that started it all!
We are seeking motivated engineering interns to join our in-person internship program. You will work on real engineering projects across multiple disciplines, applying classroom knowledge to hands-on problem solving. This role is ideal for engineers who are eager to learn, take initiative, and develop practical skills in a real-world engineering environment.
Responsibilities
-
Assist with engineering projects from concept through implementation
- Apply engineering fundamentals to solve real-world technical problems
- Support design, analysis, prototyping, testing, and iteration efforts
- Collaborate with engineers across multiple disciplines
-
Use engineering tools, software, and equipment relevant to assigned tasks
Must Have
- Currently pursuing a degree in an engineering discipline (or closely related field)
- Ability to work in person for the duration of the internship
- Strong willingness to learn and take initiative
- Reliable mode of transportation.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional in an in-person setting
-
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Nice to have
- Experience with CAD Software, such as Fusion 360, Solidworks, CREO, NX, Autodesk.
- Basic programming or scripting experience (any language relevant to their field)
- Experience with running CNCs
- Familiarity with manufacturing, prototyping, or lab/shop environments
- Previous internship, co-op, or hands-on project experience
-
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Real-World CNC Machining Experience
Learn practical CNC machining skills by working directly with CNC equipment in an in-person shop environment. Interns will be exposed to setup, operation, and basic programming while supporting real engineering projects from design to production.
Practical Engineering Design & Development
Here at SQ4D, you'll learn our #1 slogan for design, KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid!) Here you'll learn how to Design for Assembly, Design for Manufacturing, and Design for Service. Use your engineering knowledge to create, evaluate, and refine designs for real projects. Interns will move from concept to execution while learning how design decisions impact function, manufacturability, and performance.
Learn to Operate Our 3D printer
Learn how to operate a concrete 3D printer while supporting real construction and engineering projects. Interns can gain hands-on experience with material preparation, machine setup, print monitoring, and understanding how design and process parameters affect structural quality and print performance.
Learn to Read Plans and Create G-Code
Interns can learn how to read and understand building plans and technical drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, and design intent. This role provides hands-on exposure to translating those plans into G-code used for CNC machines, helping bridge the gap between design and manufacturing.
Through real projects, interns can see how drawings turn into machine-ready instructions and how small details in plans directly affect production, accuracy, and fit. This experience builds a strong foundation in both documentation interpretation and practical manufacturing workflows.
We are SQ4D. Strong ideas demand strong engineering.
At SQ4D, the work is hands-on and grounded in real engineering challenges. Projects move quickly from ideas to physical results, and the focus is always on building, testing, and improving—not just talking about solutions. People work closely together, often across different engineering disciplines, and you see firsthand how design choices affect performance, manufacturability, and the final outcome.
The environment is practical, collaborative, and driven by learning. You’re encouraged to ask questions, take initiative, and own your work, whether that means refining a design, running a machine, or solving a problem on the shop floor. SQ4D is a place for engineers who want to develop real skills, gain experience, and grow by doing the work themselves.
